Establishing New Service for Existing Accounts
APPLICATION: In order to establish water service, an application must be completed in person in our office located at 220 Academy Heights Rd., Kinston, NC 28504.
A $5.00 application fee is due before application can be processed.
UTILITY CREDIT CHECK: NLWC will perform a utility credit check upon receiving a request for service. The purpose of the credit check is to review your credit rating with other utilities, which determines your deposit amount. (This does not reflect as a “credit hit” on your financial credit reporting history or credit score) NLWC requires your Social Security number for the utility credit check. However, should you choose not to provide your social security number, a $250 deposit will be required. NLWC does require the last four digits of your Social Security number in order to verify your identification in the future.
DEPOSITS: Deposits are based on utility credit check history and previous NLWC account history. Current deposits for 3/4″ taps range from $75.00 to $250.00 and may be paid in cash, check, money order, debit or credit card with Visa, Mastercard, or Discover. Deposits for larger taps are determined by current NLWC Rules and Regulations. Deposits are nonrefundable until service is disconnected. At such time, the deposit shall be applied to the final bill. Should a balance remain after the final bill has been paid, the balance of the deposit shall be paid back to the customer.
MEMBERSHIP: A nonrefundable $10.00 Membership Fee is required for each member.
CONNECTION OF EXISTING ACCOUNT SERVICE: In most situations we provide same-day service connection for applications received by 3:00 pm for existing services. Please be sure that all water is turned off in the dwelling before service is turned on to avoid possible water damage. If a water meter continues to register after connection, with suspicion of a leak or as the result of valves not being turned off as required, the valve on the road side or on the home side of the meter will be turned back off. You may turn the meter valve on yourself at your convenience. Should a NLWC representative have to go back a second time to this location to reconnect service, a $40.00 service charge may be required.
North Lenoir Water Corporation prides itself on providing the utmost quality of service to its customers. If you have any questions or concern’s, please contact us at 252-527-8352 or on our Contact page at this site.
